If at First You Don't Succeed… Try Five More Times!
Chris & Pam Ortiz
District Vice Presidents
Former Occupations: Varsity Basketball Coach & Director in Corporate America
During college in 1992, Chris met the woman who would become the love of his life: Pam. They graduated and began their careers; each with a dream of helping others.
And while HE was on his way to being an award-winning teacher and varsity basketball coach, SHE was soon the national director of a non-profit organization—traveling frequently, working 70 hour weeks and enduring the political games that came with the job.
Pam longed to make a bigger impact on others' lives, and Chris believed she could do it. When she was introduced to the network marketing business model, she recognized that it offered an opportunity to create exceptional income, but also gave her a unique way to truly touch the lives of thousands of people. She signed up for the company, aware that she was a competent business woman and the business model was sound.
And she failed. Undaunted, she tried another direct selling opportunity. And she failed. This business model was more than viable—it was proven! It had to work. And yet, she failed again.
All the while, Chris was encouraging Pam to pursue her dream of helping more people. He believed that she could truly make a difference in the lives of others, just as he was doing for hundreds of kids.
Never, Never Give Up
Persistence is a core part of Pam's character. She doesn't give up easily. And so she pursued success in two more network marketing companies. And, time and again, didn't get the results she knew were available.
In all, Pam tried and failed five times. Or maybe, she learned how NOT to build a direct selling business. Because on the 6th try, she succeeded.
What Changed
"I came to a point in my life where my WHY got huge. I married the love of my life, and knew I wanted to be able to be home with the children we want to have." The strength of her new WHY catapulted her to success in just 9 months. That's right, in just 9 months she went from a "newbie" to one of the company's recognized leaders.
The company had been in business since 1980, and she loved the products and the people. In fact, she was perfectly content there, as a National VP, earning a six figure income, driving the company car and helping women succeed.
Pam loved that company as well as her team, and wasn't looking for a different opportunity when she received a phone about DynaMAXX. Honestly, her current success meant that Pam regularly got calls from other networkers, touting "amazing new opportunities."
But this phone call was different, and she had the opportunity to meet with the team at corporate. "After I met Bill (Ladwig), and saw the international aspect of DynaMAXX, I took a very serious look at the company's potential. I saw that there were three factors that actually meant DynaMAXX could exceed the potential of the company I had created such success with."
Chris agreed that the opportunity was phenomenal. With his encouragement, she resigned her successful relationship with the 30 year old company, turned in the keys to that car, and began the DynaMAXX journey.
Amazing Journey
Two months after the company's National Launch-- just thirteen months after enrolling in DynaMAXX-- with Chris' coaching and encouragement and her persistence and enthusiasm, they reached the rank of District Vice President. During the summer of 2011, Chris retired from coaching B-ball, but the world is now his classroom. Together they are showing people the vision and teaching them to make a difference in the lives of others, through the incredible products and opportunity of DynaMAXX.
Chris and Pam believe that DynaMAXX has unparalleled opportunity due to its:
- Almost Unlimited Target Market
- Consumable products
- Ground Floor Status
Gen Y, Gen X and Baby Boomers are all looking for more restful sleep as well as peak performance during their days… males, females, athletes, business travelers, students… the market for DynaMAXX products is virtually endless.
While jewelry, furnishing and water filters are durable goods, DynaMAXX products are consumable. And so they are purchased, month after month; often on an automatic basis.
Because of the first two reasons above, DynaMAXX will still be an incredibly viable opportunity twenty years from now. But because it is just getting started, because it isn't yet a household name, the potential for vast wealth to be created is staggering.
The couple is realistic. "There's a cost to being a millionaire. Everyone wants to be one, but not everyone will pay the price. Interestingly, the price in this network marketing company is about 15 hours a week."
Chris and Pam know that anyone who has a big enough WHY and is willing to spend time on the Simple Steps to Success can build a profitable business. And they also believe that one of the strengths Pam's experience offers is something others may see as a weakness.
Pam says, "My strength is that I've failed so many times at other network marketing businesses. I can relate to people and they can relate to my failure. They're encouraged when they realize I failed five times before I made it!" Chris happily agrees, and Pam adds that Chris' "coach" mentality of developing leadership and success skills through encouragement is a key factor in what makes their business—and their teams' businesses-- successful.
"DynaMAXX is the right company, at the right time with the right products. We're so grateful for this opportunity."

Chenea Taylor
Bio: National Director, Wyoming
Helping Others Live Their Dreams
Former Occupation: Executive VP in Network Marketing
Married to Ron Taylor for 20 years
Children: Devin, 14
Brianna, 11
After spending ten years as a stay at home mom, Chenea Taylor lived a fairy tale; shooting straight to the top with a network marketing company. A nifty title, a glamorous car and plenty of loved ones surrounding her were a dream come true. She believed in the company's products and plan, and was having the time of her life, helping others live their dreams, too.
In fact, it was her desire to have a business that would make a significant impact on her extended family that helped drive Chenea and her husband, Ron, to success. "We came from a background of financial struggle. We knew that doing well at any job could create financial success for our immediate family, but it couldn't create the kind of success that could change the lives of our siblings and parents, too." With network marketing, they found the business that could actually create a legacy of success that would spread throughout their families.
So what in the world would cause her to start fresh with DynaMAXX? Actually, there were two things: vision and timing.
"There was certainly no lack of opportunity with the other company. But DynaMAXX offered something that is truly rare today: a solid business plan with ground floor timing. As a business proposition, the two create an incredibly dynamic opportunity!" Chenea says.
In fact, DynaMAXX's plan to launch first in the U.S., then later internationally, extends the ground floor aspect exponentially. So while there are still untapped areas in the states, more and more Associates can continue to benefit from this initial ground floor status, but with an eye toward the future of having another ground floor opportunity across the globe.
The ability to have her team be able to put their whole hearts into helping others was the second half of the equation that inspired Chenea and Ron to start a new vision. They knew that it takes a carefully constructed compensation plan to truly allow associates to embrace helping their down line succeed.
"The industry—as a whole-- offers very few Comp Plans that are designed to continue to reward you for helping those in your downline excel. Many plans eliminate your compensation from a 'leg' once the downline has achieved a high rank. Before, I continued to help my team excel, but I truly wished there was another option available."
Once Chenea and Ron learned of DynaMAXX's long term vision for rewarding those who would help others, they became even more excited. Now, they didn't have to sacrifice their family's income but could whole-heartedly celebrate each team members' successes.
Chenea has made building an inter-state team a priority. "Building a team in Missouri, while living in Texas, hasn't been difficult," she says. "Ninety percent of our team does their business over the phone and on the web. We all use 3 way calls. In fact, that's key to our success, because although many of my team members are successful in other fields—the state senate, law and medicine—they don't all have success in network marketing. So, they simply put their prospects on the phone with me, using my third party validation to substantiate the business."
Another reason her team loves the 3 way call? "I don't put any pressure whatsoever on the prospects. I just explain how the business work and why it works. Later, the Associate asks the prospect if they'd like to join. It's that easy," she says.
Her best advice may seem intimidating to some: "Sponsor up. Look for people who are already successful at what they do, and trust that they'll see the business for what it is—that rare, ground floor opportunity."
Helping others succeed in this ground floor opportunity has created a strong team for Chenea and Ron. And when asked if she made National Director by calling every person on her personal list, she laughs. "I never reach the end of my list! I spend quite a bit of time helping others get started on their lists, so I never manage to reach the end of mine."

Tuck Trentham
Bio: National Director, Florida
Follow the Leader & Succeed
Occupation: Owner, Water Well drilling Company
Children: Jessica, 11 years old
"I've been a part of several network marketing companies, and I've never made any money," Tuck Trentham flatly stated. To his surprise, the reply didn't promise better results. In fact, it actually assured him that he wouldn't make any money at this one, either—if he did what he'd done before. BUT, Jay added, if he was willing to do exactly what he would be taught, Tuck would have a "monster" business. He did, and now he does. And the shiny black Mercedes Benz is just the beginning.
Tuck spotted Bobby Vaughan in a poker room in Daytona, and noticed that he looked great. Bobby explained that his weight loss was due to Lights ON. When Tuck expressed interest in the product, Bobby did a 3 way call on the spot. Afterwards, Tuck promised to watch the video when he got home, but his mind was made up—he had no intention of joining another MLM.
Tuck had several friends who'd made great incomes in direct selling, but he never had, despite a dozen or so attempts.
But because he promised, he visited the website to see the online video. While watching, it dawned on him that his friend Bobby had literally dialed one of the founders of DynaMAXX, who had personally taken time to explain the opportunity.
"Frankly, I signed up immediately based on "position" alone. I've never known anyone—even those who have been successful in direct selling—who got to speak with the founder of the company," Tuck says. "And if he was going to help me build my business, then I knew I could succeed. Right after I enrolled, I enrolled my girlfriend, Laura, with an Executive Pack, too. This thing was going to go big!"
DynaMAXX products are selected specifically because of the incredible market appeal—riding the wave of multi-billion dollar trends and appealing to the two largest populations in history. This means that even 15 years from now this will be a solid opportunity.
But it's also true that those with the foresight to begin building their businesses within the first few years have the greatest advantage for building significant wealth; especially those who begin establishing their teams prior to the launch of the international expansion.
Tuck immediately began doing exactly what Jay advised. "It's a simple process, and it's virtually the same every time."
There are a few simple steps:
- Share samples
- Set expectations (no buzz, etc.)
- Call the next day (99% will have forgotten to take it, so…)
- Call the following day
- Receive a good report on the products
- Ask, "Can you hold on just a minute?" (Dial upline on 3 way call)
- Say, "Upline, I've got JOE on the phone. I don't know this business as well as you do; could you explain it?"
- Then personally tell about Executive Pack, Business Pack & Personal Pack options.
- Start again with step 1.
Tuck says that his method of getting the facts out and generating excitement literally works around 90% of the time. In fact, he says that if someone isn't experiencing these enrollment results in their business, he asks them if they're doing 3 way calls—and the answer is usually no. "You can try to build your business without 3 way calls, but the calls are key."
There's another "secret" to his success. "I'm successful because no one can tell me this product doesn't work. I had high blood pressure for 25 years, as well as plenty of aches and pains. The pain is gone and my blood pressure is back in the normal range! I know this product works."
Due to a slow-down in his well-drilling business, Tuck has a strong WHY to succeed with DynaMAXX. But even strong motivation doesn't cost him any more effort than what traditional business terms "part time." Thankfully, with DynaMAXX, a part time effort offers a full time reward.
"I can hand out three samples in an hour, hour and a half," he says. "Now, my personal goal is to hand out five a day, but I'll settle for three; and I do it five days a week. The truth is, it's not a lot of time or effort—and I tell people that they will get out of this business exactly what they put in, so they must put in something!" For that reason, Tuck also recommends giving samples to those who want help, not just those who need help.
Finally, he points out that to stay focused, he attends every call, and goes to every meeting. Further, he adds, "I consider myself a team captain, and so I try to be a positive motivator. If I get discouraged, I just log on to my Virtual Office and review the Power Points, to remind myself why this business is such an incredible way to help people."
And by helping others achieve success, Tuck has achieved his first DynaMAXX trophy: a gleaming black Mercedes Benz. And he's just begun!

Tammy Harris
Bio: National Director, Texas
Help as Many People as you can!
Married to Texas Senator Chris Harris
Former Occupation: Non-profit director, Cattle Rancher, Business Owner
Tammy Harris has a big goal in life: to help as many people as she can.
This heart for serving others means she has worn many hats: Vice President of a non-profit after-school program, branch manager of a mortgage company helping families purchase homes, and working for the various campaigns of her husband, Senator Chris Harris, in his 25-year career as a public servant. She's also owned multiple businesses, raised five children and run her family's cattle ranch.
And while her passion is helping people, her business acumen is what allows her to accomplish it. In fact, it was these traits that caused Tammy to plunge head first into her first network marketing experience and promote to a national position within 96 days.
Tammy was leading a great team, and guiding them to success, when a friend emailed her about looking at the DynaMAXX opportunity with him. "In the email, he mentioned that the opportunity was 'ground floor.' I knew I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't take a look, because I won't get many ground floor opportunities."
Tammy texted her friend, and then waited impatiently for him to contact her. When he called, she discovered that she was already familiar with one of the company's co-founders, Bill Ladwig, from community events. She attended an informational meeting at Bill's home, then the next day attended another at a country club. She brought a friend with her, this time. "I said, 'We've got to sign up right this minute! And I signed the friend underneath me!"
When Tammy joined DynaMAXX, she never dreamed that she'd ever want to give up her other network marketing business. But she quickly realized that the potential for growth with DynaMAXX was incredible. She also discovered how much easier this business was: there are no lengthy demos and no need to tote around heavy products.
When she discovered how the DynaMAXX comp plan works, she was even more excited. In her other networking business, helping others succeed was just as satisfying emotionally, but less rewarding financially. In fact, at that particular company, the more people she helped, the lower her compensation percentage became.
Co-founders Jay Archer and Bill Ladwig truly believe that helping others achieve is what creates success, and the DynaMAXX compensation plan reflects that. Associates are rewarded based on the number of others they help to succeed.
The most interesting thing about Tammy's journey to DynaMAXX National Director isn't just that it's been a fast-paced 90 days; it's that she hasn't even contacted all the people on her personal list. Instead, her growth has been from people she meets while she is out and about. "I just keep overhearing people who talk about not being able to sleep."
That's no surprise, because 60% of adults report trouble sleeping. For years, Tammy had to take tranquilizers to be able to sleep, too. "At night my brain goes 90 to nothing. But I haven't taken a tranquilizer to sleep since the first night I tried Lights OFF!"
Tammy says that building her business to National Director level has been a matter of helping her team members make a mental shift. "Most people think that their customers (and prospects) are helping them, but really, we are helping our customers (and prospects)!"
She views this business as a gift that she offers others. Some accept the gift of better rest and focus, some accept the gift of an incredible opportunity. Of course, some don't accept either gift. She describes understanding "no" as turning down pie in a restaurant. "Just because someone is on a diet and says 'no' to pie today, doesn't mean they don't like the waitress and doesn't mean they will never eat pie!" It simply means they aren't choosing to order pie from the waitress today.
Tammy also tries to encourage her team in practical ways. "I don't push them, but I will offer them language/phrases they can use to talk to people; but often, they're talking too much." There's no need to explain the business to a prospect, all that's necessary is to give them an invitation to hear about the business from a more knowledgeable person. Tammy is a strong advocate of using a three way call to build this business. She also understands the importance of helping her team members believe in themselves through positive reinforcement.
But, she adds, you also have to help them find their WHY, what they want to accomplish in this business. "If they don't know WHY they're in the business, they won't do well. If they know WHY, help them set the goal and go after it!"
Her philosophy of life and her approach to her business is summed up by the title of her favorite book, Dare to Dream and Work to Win, by Dr. Tom Barrett. Tammy works consistently on her DynaMAXX business, talking to at least three people a day about the products and opportunity. And that effort has resulted in her quick promotion to National Director and a sleek black Mercedes.

Bobby Vaughan
Bio: National Director, Florida
I'll Work Hard One More Day
Married to June "June Bug" Vaughan
Former Occupation: Timeshare Sales
Bobby Vaughan earned a DynaMaxx Mercedes, but he is quick to point out that his business wouldn't have grown so well or so fast without the help of his upline.
That's because, although Bobby is a National Director, he still uses his upline, co-founder Jay Archer, for three-way calls. It's a system with credibility and third-party validation built right in. It's a simple plan, and it works.
Bobby understands the joy of a simple plan, because it has brought him so much success. He plans his goals on the 15th of each month, and every day makes a list of ten things to do. He stops working when he has accomplished all ten—whether it's noon, three p.m. or six p.m.
Bobby adds that he came from a long line of distinguished poor people, but he didn't want to be poor. "Money comes," he says, "Just work hard and it will come."
How hard does Bobby work? On the day of this interview, Bobby talked to 15 people. "If a person is within three feet of me, I talk to them about how amazing the products are." Bobby's particular favorite is Lights OFF. "I'm a diabetic, and I used to get up 5-6 times a night. Since I started drinking Lights OFF, it's just once a night, and I'm back to sleep in five minutes."
Bobby's wife, "June Bug" is a fan of Line Defy, and even has her doctor interested in it. "I fell in love with the products. They work. Line Defy practically sells itself if you demonstrate it by putting it on just half the face." Bobby says.
After a prospective customer has tried DynaMaxx products, Bobby looks at their character. If he thinks it's a good fit, then he invites them to hear about the opportunity during a three-way call.
Trust is another factor in his success. "Definitely talk to everyone who trusts you about the DynaMaxx opportunity," he advises, adding that his trust of Jay Archer's character is what prompted him to join the company. Trust is so paramount that Bobby believes reading the first chapter of Stephen Covey's book The Speed of Trust will help you understand life.
The DynaMaxx Simple System for Success and the integrity of its leadership are helping Bobby realize his dream of spending even more time playing with his grandchildren. "When my first grandchild, Jack, was born, my outlook on life changed. My father didn't raise me, my grandfather did. So when Jack was born, I wanted to help raise him, too. He made me realize what's important in life."
Helping others is something else that is important in life. "I ask people, 'Wouldn't you be happy if you could help others? And if you could help others, why wouldn't you share the secret of how you can help others? DynaMaxx's products and opportunities can help so many people."
"I love what I do… I love this! It's awesome and I have a passion for it." While Bobby never dreamed success would come so fast, he is confident that by helping more people achieve success, he'll meet those goals he sets each month. "Each day I just tell myself, I'll work hard one more day."

Nichole Puettman
Bio: National Director, Wyoming
Ignorance on Fire!
Married to: Patrick Puettman
Former Occupation: Weight Loss Clinic Owner, Med School Student
Nichole Puettman was like thousands of students across the U.S. Newly married, she and her husband Patrick were living in a 380 square foot home, living paycheck to paycheck while she spent 12 hours a day in class. Her car was on its last leg, er, wheel, and constantly breaking down in the cold Wyoming winters. The couple made ends meet by relying on their credit cards, all the while knowing that wasn't a good solution—but it was the only one they had.
Nichole wasn't afraid of hard work, so the two started a weight loss business to help their income stretch a little farther. "We thought we'd do what everybody does: he'd work in the oil fields and I'd go to school, and we'd just try to pay off our debt before we died."
Nichole, whose top priority is family and loved ones, looked at the clock one night after she finished her commitments, and remembered that a friend was having a meeting and needed support. "I know what it's like to try to accomplish something, the support of friends is so important!" So although it was late, she headed to the meeting and arrived just as the friend and Pam Ortiz were packing up their DynaMAXX opportunity meeting. The two shared the opportunity with Nichole anyway.
"I fell in love with the product, and I thought it would be good for my weight loss clients. But the more I thought of the opportunity, the more excited I got."
Nichole, whose top priority is family, made a fifteen hour trip to share Lights OFF and Lights ON with her Mom. That simple act of thoughtfulness had an impact she never dreamed of. Since she was five years old, Nichole had watched her mom wave goodbye as her husband and children went off for activities. Her degenerating health, with its constant pain, meant she had limited mobility and tired too easily to participate in much of life. Having worried about her mom through twenty years of pain and illness, and a pharmacy of 31 medications, Nichole just hoped her mom would be able to rest better. Her mom began to take the DynaMAXX products, appreciating that her daughter would care enough to drive so far.
To the family's astonishment, her mom was soon more active than she'd been in twenty years—her pain had diminished and she had energy to spare. "It's like I have my mom back!"
DynaMAXX has made an impact on the things Nichole values most: her family. "My dad has worked in the coal mines for 28 years, but DynaMAXX has replaced his income, so he'll soon be able to resign and golf everyday while he shares this great business. My mom's and sister's health have improved, and as soon as I am a District Vice President, Pat will be coming home so we can spend more time together, too!"
Materially, Nichole and Pat have an entirely different life. "I'll never forget when my car broke down in Sheridan. DynaMAXX founder, Jay Archer, drove my car home for me—that's just the type of person he is. Not that it was unusual for my car to break down. In fact, the day before I went to pick up my DynaMAXX Mercedes Benz, my car broke down and I couldn't even push it the block home."
"It's not all about the Mercedes, though. It's honestly the little things. We're grateful to have a car that runs. And although Pat and I are now able to live in a home three times the size of our former home, we're more excited about being months away from paying off our debt. We can go out to eat without worrying about having food for the rest of the week. And when DynaMAXX invites us to travel, we are treated to limo rides and chefs. The little things are so amazing to us!"
Best of all, Nichole knows that anyone can do this business. "When I started succeeding in this business, I was basically ignorance on fire. I'd never done direct sales, I was a college student… I had no idea what to do!" But she knew that if she followed the instructions of her upline leader, Pam Ortiz, then she would be able to enjoy the same success Pam did.
And that's exactly what she did. In fact, that's what she's still doing. And the success continues to build! |
